  1. Before Leaving to Workaway

    • Start Course 1: Foundations of International Volunteering (GEN 103) to prepare for success with cultural insights and practical planning.
       

  2. While You Volunteer

    • Apply learning with Course 2: Specialized Global Studies (GEN 203) and customize your focus:

      • Global Citizenship, Marine Conservation, or Wildlife Conservation.

    • Complete Course 3: Volunteering and Service in Practice (GEN 303) alongside your project to deepen impact.
       

  3. After Your Workaway

    • Submit your final reflections and assignments.

    • Receive your Diploma, UCAS points and transcript

GEN 203: Specialized Global Studies

Customize Your Learning to Match Your Project

Choose a focus area that aligns with your WorkAway placement and interests. This course provides in-depth knowledge and tools to address real-world challenges related to your volunteering work.
 

Track Options:

  1. Global Citizenship:
    Explore global inequality, climate change, and human rights through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Develop solutions for creating positive change.

  2. Marine Conservation:
    Dive into the fascinating world of marine ecosystems and biodiversity. Study reef restoration, resource conflicts, and sustainable marine practices to protect our oceans.

  3. Wildlife Conservation:
    Learn about biodiversity protection, eco-tourism, and strategies to preserve critical wildlife habitats. Understand the role of volunteers in global conservation efforts.

GEN 303: Volunteering and Service in Practice

This final course bridges your academic learning with your hands-on Workaway experience. While volunteering, you’ll critically evaluate your contributions, reflect on your personal growth, and develop strategies for creating sustainable outcomes.
 

What You’ll Achieve:

  • Apply leadership and teamwork skills to your volunteer role.

  • Reflect on the challenges and successes of your project through structured assignments.

  • Analyze the ethical and sustainable impact of your work on the community.

  • Develop lifelong strategies for continuing global engagement and learning.
